It’s the most wonderful time of the year! There are plenty of celebrations, loved ones, gifts, and FOOD. So much food. With all this eating we’re doing, it would be nice to actually break down the food properly and get the nutrients we need out of it, right?
That’s where enzymes come in.
Our bodies make enzymes such as protease, lipase, and amylase to help break down the food we eat. Raw, unprocessed foods also contain their own enzymes that help us digest our food.
However, once we cook or process the food, those enzymes get destroyed and we miss out on those benefits. Additionally, our own digestive enzymes can become depleted when we take certain medications, drink liquids while we eat, or consume food while we’re stressed or on-the-go. With a deficiency in digestive enzymes comes a deficiency in digestion capabilities and our health suffers the consequences. For example, heartburn, indigestion, diarrhea, and colitis can all be a consequence of too little digestive enzymes!
What can we do?
Supplement with digestive enzymes, of course! We’ve tried dozens of different digestive enzyme products over the years because we’ve also been eating food for many years and we find it’s just nice to have a little extra support.
The wonderful thing about digestive enzymes is they are great for anyone! If you eat food, you need enzymes. You don’t have to have a health condition to benefit. And they don’t come with side effects. They’re safe for everyday use with each meal.
However, if you do happen to have a health condition, supplementing with digestive enzymes may be an important part of your treatment program! Research suggests enzyme supplementation may be helpful in cases of chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, lactose intolerance, celiac disease, and more!
They are inexpensive, effective, and don’t cause side effects – might as well give digestive enzymes a try!
What makes BioLight’s Healthzymes Plus stand out?
I’ve been really impressed with these enzymes for a few reasons.
First, check out the ingredients:
- Protease blend (protease and peptidase)
- Lipase
- Amylase
- Phytase
- Glucoamylase
- Alpha-galactosidase
- Macerase
- Beta-glucanase
- Lactase
- Pectinase
- Cellulase
- Diastase
- Invertase
- Hemicellulase
They have a huge variety of different enzymes to support you in breaking down a huge variety of types of food! They covered the bases of proteins, fats, and carbs, but I love that there are so many different enzymes for various types of carbs and starches.
In addition to the issues mentioned above, Healthzymes Plus can be helpful for the following conditions:
- Excess gas, burping, and belching
- Acid Reflux
- Gerd
- Inflammatory Bowel Disorders (IBS, Chron’s Celiac)
- Inflammation
- Gastritis
- Diverticulitis
- Constipation
- Ulcers
It also generally supports proper digestion and strengthens the immune system.
The suggested use is one capsule with each meal, and that’s what I’ve been doing. But you can also take them in between meals to help build up your body’s enzyme reserve and to reduce inflammation and break down junk that’s built up.
